So how’s it going, everyone? What have you been reading and writing?
I guess I’ll start. I have a draft of the abstract I’ve been working on (officially due June 29) and hope to post it here sometime soon. I read the manuscript chapter that I scheduled to read last week, but I still need to type my notes on it. I’ve only read 52/245 pages of Maria Mies’s Patriarchy & Accumulation on a World Scale, and since I had briefly misplaced the other book I planned to start last week, I read the introduction to Walter Johnson’s Soul by Soul instead. But I’m not even close to finish Mies or Johnson. I did read a couple journal articles on eugenics, race, and dis/ability, though.
My revised plan for this week: Post my abstract. Finish Johnson and Mies. Type notes on Johnson, Mies, and the manuscript chapter I read last week. And I’m also going to the MN Historical Society to do some archival research tomorrow and possibly Wednesday. So my plans are still ambitious despite the fact that after week 1, I’m already a week behind.
